Itinerary






DAY 1 – July 31st: Leave U.S. (Lose a day crossing the International Dateline.)
DAY 2 – August 1st: Arrive Tokyo, transfer to hotel. Evening at leisure.
DAY 3 – August 2nd: (Tokyo) Full day of sightseeing by bus, locations of Godzilla destruction. Visit to the Godzilla monument in Hibiya, Diet Building (Godzilla vs Mothra), Tax Towers (Godzilla vs King Ghidorah), Aqua City (Godzilla vs Megaguirus), Yurakucho (Godzilla 1985), Tokyo Tower (Mothra, King Kong Escapes), etc.
DAY 4 – August 3rd: (Tokyo) Tour leaders will guide group to exhibition of Godzilla 50th anniversary memorabilia. Travel by bus. Admission to exhibit on individual basis. Optional tour of Nikko National Park offered for those tour members not wishing to attend Godzilla exhibit. Evening get-together with tokusatsu actors and staff, attended by Godzilla vs Hedorah director Yoshimitsu Banno, kaiju creator Shinichi Wakasa, screenwriters Wataru Mimura and Hiroshi Kashiwabara, Godzilla fx director Yoshikazu Ishii, and kaiju artists Hikari and Naoko Takeda.
DAY 5 – August 4th: (Tokyo) Day at leisure. Guided shopping to model and maniac shops. Visit to Godzilla exhibit at Yokohama Matsuzakaya. Load up on rare Godzilla Goodies.
DAY 6 – August 5th: (Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, Kawaguchiko, Hakone) Depart Tokyo by bus for sightseeing tour in Kamakura and Fuji area, including visits to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and Big Buddha. Stop at 5th station on Mt. Fuji (site of Godzilla's battle with King Kong), explore Lake Kawaguchi area (where Godzilla and Rodan attacked in Monster Zero). Fabulous fireworks in the evening, then transfer to hotel in Hakone.
DAY 7 – August 6th: (Hakone, Atami, Kyoto) Morning sightseeing in Hakone area, including the steaming sulfur vents of the Owakudani Valley, with a ride on the Komagatake Ropeway (under which Baragon crawled in GMK). View Atami Castle (destroyed by King Kong and Godzilla but rebuilt in time for G-TOUR). Then transfer to Atami Station and board the famous Bullet Train for Kyoto, the next stop on the tour. Evening at leisure.
DAY 8 – August 7th: (Kyoto) Full day sightseeing tour of Japan's most historic city, including Kyoto Tower (blown up by Godzilla in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2), Golden Pavillion, Sanjusangen-do, and Kyomizu Temple (also menaced by Godzilla in G vs MG2).
DAY 9 – August 8th: (Kyoto, Hiroshima, Kyoto) Bullet Train trip to Hiroshima (attacked by Ghidorah in Godzilla vs King Ghidorah) for a day of sightseeing, including the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Park and Museum. A must-see for every visitor to Japan. Also included, a side trip by ferry to beautiful Miyajima Island with its famous floating Torii Gate.
DAY 10 – August 9th (Kyoto, Osaka, Kyoto) Morning visit to Osaka Castle (destroyed in Godzilla Raids Again). Afternoon to Toei Movie Village and theme park. Evening visit by actor Robert Scott Field.
DAY 11 – August 10th: Depart Japan from Kansai International Airport, gain back your lost day by re-crossing the Dateline, and contemplate your tour of a lifetime in the land of Godzilla. Or, if you wish, extend your stay in Japan, or travel on to Korea, Hong Kong or other Far Eastern locales.
