G-TOUR 4 2020 Itinerary

Day 1 (en route)

Your voyage to the Land of Godzilla begins as you board a gleaming jetliner, then soar Rodan-like across the Pacific. Crossing the International Date Line you lose 24 hours, but don’t worry; you get it back on the way home.

Day 2 (Tokyo)

Upon your afternoon arrival at Narita Airport, you are whisked into Tokyo, the most exciting city on Earth! Check in at the Shinjuku Washington hotel, meet your MYK escort and other group members, then fan out to explore the many delights awaiting you.

Day 3 (Tokyo)

After a restorative breakfast at the hotel, G-TOUR 4 begins with a bang! The morning will be spent touring Tokyo and visiting iconic kaiju sites, including Ultraman Street, the Godzilla Square Shin Godzilla statue, and a Toho Studios photo op. View the city skyline from the observation floor of the famous “Tax Tower,” leveled by Godzilla and Mecha-King Ghidorah in 1991. After lunch, we’ll join the festivities at the annual Godzilla Festival to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the Big Guy’s “birth.”

Day 4 (Tokyo)

We’ll begin by taking the scenic Yurikamome Monorail to Odaiba (where Godzilla battled Megaguirus) for visits to the fantastic new indoor theme park Small Worlds Tokyo and the Disaster Prevention Center (where scenes for Shin Godzilla were filmed). Choose lunch from one of more than forty restaurants in the DiverCity entertainment complex, including the Gundam Cafe. The evening features an optional Tokyo Bay dinner cruise hosted by the Godfather of G-FEST, Akira Takarada.

Day 5 (Tokyo-Sukagawa-Tokyo)

Travel by luxurious chartered bus to Sukagawa, hometown of Eiji Tsuburaya, Japan’s father of spfx. Scout for UltraMonsters roaming the streets, then visit the Tsuburaya Museum. On the way home we’ll have a kaiju shopping stop at Mandarake in Utsunomiya. Evening at leisure. (Note: Participants not “kaiju crazy” can opt out of the day trip and enjoy TBA cultural activities in Tokyo.)

Day 6 (Tokyo, Kyoto)

Board the ultra-fast Bullet Train for the ancient city of Kyoto (keeping an eye peeled for venerable Mt. Fuji along the way). An afternoon guided tour takes in such sites of kaiju carnage as New Kyoto Station, Kyoto Tower, and Kyomizu Temple. Check in to the Mitsui Garden Hotel and then spend the evening at leisure/shopping/etc.

Day 7 (Kyoto, Awaji Island, Kyoto)

A comfortable chartered bus takes the group to Nijigen no Mori Anime Theme Park on Awaji Island (via Kobe, where Gamera fought Barugon) to experience the newly installed Shin Godzilla attraction. The trip back includes a kaiju shopping stop in Osaka’s famed Den Den Town featuring scores of kaiju-laden hobby shops. (Note: Participants not “kaiju crazy” can opt out of the day trip and enjoy TBA cultural activities in Kyoto.)

Day 8 (Kyoto, Kanazawa)

G-TOUR heads for the western side of Japan, an area rarely touched by most tours of the country. Our chartered bus takes us through the beautiful countryside to Kanazawa with lunch en route. Kanazawa boasts preserved historic architecture dating back centuries which will be part of an afternoon tour, including the famous Myoryuji Temple, also known as Ninjadera (Ninja Temple) due to its many deceptive defenses. As well, we’ll visit gorgeous Kenrokuen Garden, one of the top three in Japan. Evening at leisure.

Day 9 (Kanazawa, Kurobe Gorge, Matsumoto)

Today G-TOUR visits the mysterious birthplace of King Ghidorah, Kurobe Gorge, on the scenic tramway that traverses more than 60 bridges and tunnels. The bright red Shin Yamabiko Bridge, crushed when Ghidorah knocked Godzilla over backwards, can be viewed amid the splendor of autumn leaves in an untouched area rarely traversed by gaijin (foreigners). Then on to historic Matsumoto.

Day 10 (Matsumoto, Tokyo)

A morning visit to Matsumoto Castle and its classic bridge, overflown by Ghidorah after his arrival on Earth. Lunch en route to the Hotel Gracery with its thrilling Godzilla Rooms. Evening at leisure to explore Shinjuku with its huge variety of nightlife entertainment.

Day 11 (Tokyo)

The final full day wraps G-TOUR up with a packed agenda including a visit to the Studio Ghibli Museum, the famed Nakano Broadway arcade, and the Godzilla Store. Enjoy am optional farewell supper at the ultra-themed Kaiju Sakaba restaurant with special Ultra Guests in attendance. Then a last night of sweet kaiju dreams under the watchful eyes of Godzilla at the Hotel Gracery.

Day 12 (Tokyo)

After breakfast at the hotel, it’s time for last-minute shopping before heading back home. Or… extend your stay in Japan with the assistance of MYK Travel or on your own. Either way, you’ll carry the joyful memories of a unique G-TOUR.
