Masaaki Tezuka

Guest of Honor: Masaaki Tezuka

It was with great pleasure that we announced that Millennium Series Godzilla Director Masaaki Tezuka was our guest of honor at G-FEST XXII. He was the Director of Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. While Godzilla vs. Megaguirus was Mr. Tezuka’s directorial debut, he had plenty of previous kaiju experience. He was Assistant Director on Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla in 1993, as well as Rebirth of Mothra II and III. Mr. Tezuka was also the Special Effects B Unit Supervisor for Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack.

Noboru Kaneko

Special Guest: Noboru Kaneko

Actor Noboru Kaneko has a considerable resume of television appearances, but he is best known to Super Sentai fans for playing Gao Red (Blazing Lion), the lead role in the television series Gaoranger. Gaoranger was Toei Company’s twenty-fifth production of the Super Sentai series, which aired in 2001, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise. For Godzilla fans, Mr. Noboru is best known for his role as lead scientist Yoshito Chujo in Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.

Kow Otani

Special Guest: Kow Otani

Kow Otani is a composer for film, anime, and video games. He is most well known for his scores to the Heisei Gamera series from 1995 to 1999, and Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack from 2001. Mr. Otani made his debut in 1987 as an anime composer for the manga adaptation City Hunter, and went on to score many other anime features including Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. He has composed music for several video games, including Shadow of the Colossus in 2005. Mr. Otani will be making a special appearance as Guest of Honor for Symphonic Fury! The Music of Japanese Monsters concert coinciding with G-FEST XXII. The concert which will feature music from his Gamera and Godzilla films, will be the world premiere of Mr. Otani’s kaiju scores, as they have never been performed live, not even in Japan!

Mr. Otani will be available to meet fans and sign autographs at the Symphonic Fury! table in the Dealers Room on Friday, July 10th only, from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Photographs will be available for signing.

Robert Scott Field

Special Guest: Robert Scott Field

The star of Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, Scott has become an integral part of G-FEST since he first attended in 1999. Each year, G-FEST attendees look forward to renewing their friendship with Scott, and hearing about the latest happenings in the Land of the Rising Sun.

August Ragone

Special Guest Presenter: August Ragone

August Ragone is one of the most authoritative historians of Japanese science fiction and fantasy films working in English, and is the Rondo Award-winning author of the highly-lauded “Eiji Tsuburaya: Master of Monsters,” chronicling the life and career of the visual effects master. He has written for several publications (starting with the “Japanese Fantasy Film Journal”), was the co-editor of Markalite magazine, and the Special Features Producer for Shout Factory’s DVD releases of the classic Gamera films and the Ultra series.
