(10:00 AM - 11:00 AM) Fans joined Stan Hyde for a slide show presentation of the noteworthy models and toys of 2014. What’s out there in the world of kaiju figures, what was coming up, and what’s plain cool! The first step to building your collection is to know what’s available. The hunt is on!

(11:00 AM - 1:00 PM) Whether it’s styrene, resin, vinyl, or even more arcane materials, modelers gained complete confidence when opening their kits to set out and create a monster. A panel of experts covered the A to Zs of building kits of all kinds, demystifying the art of monster making.

Painting Kaiju Figures of All Kinds

(2:00 PM - 4:00 PM) Modelers joined our expert builders, and learned how to paint their monsters so that they’re awesome, beautiful, and terrifying! From the basics to advanced techniques, and with some tricks along the way, they learned how to transform their model into a unique piece of art.

Modeling Popular Mythconceptions

(4:00 PM - 5:00 PM) Modelers joined Larry Tribula for a new panel on creating dioramas which demonstrated how to combine mythological and kaiju characters together in ways that tell unique stories. Larry covered both Japanese as well as Western myths as he explained how to bring your model kits to life.

Sign Up For Make-It-and-Take-It

(9:00 AM - 10:00 PM) There were a limited number of Megalon figures available for the Make-It-and-Take-It session where the model team helped new modelers practice painting techniques. The models cost $10.00 and were intended for this event only. There were two sessions for painting, one from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM, and another from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM.

10:00 AM - 11:30 AM) Fans joined our modelers for a painting session in which you painted Megalon yourself. Whether you had some experience painting model kits or had never held a paint brush before, this was your chance to create your own, individual kaiju!

Kaiju Diorama Building With Master Sagae

(1:30 PM - 2:30 PM) Our special model building guest Hiroshi Sagae has worked on kaiju films, built sets and models for films, designed maquettes for Godzilla and Gamera films, and created the sculpts for many toys and figures. However, one of the the things he is most famous for are his incredible diorama works featured in magazines like Hobby Japan and Dengeki Hobby. Fans joined our special guest and found out just what a creative hobby modeling can be!

Models of Inspiration 2014

(2:30 PM - 3:30 PM) Fans joined Stan Hyde for a session on the sources of inspiration for modelers. From studying films and source material, to looking at artwork and the work of other model makers, our hobby is more fun when we reach out to others to inspire us. We took a look and shared good sources for artistic inspiration, as well as looked at some of the best model kits from past G-FESTs.

Kaiju Sculpting With Master Sagae

(3:30 PM - 4:30 PM) Our special model building guest Hiroshi Sagae is well-known for competing in model-building and sculpting television shows, as well as working professionally, sculpting maquettes (concept sculptures) for feature films. He is no stranger to practicing artistry live in front of audiences of astonished onlookers. Fans joined us for an incredible session as Master Sagae demonstrated his art right in front of us!
