Archive: G-FEST XX
G-FEST is the largest regular gathering of Godzilla and Japanese monster fans in the world. Held each summer, it typically attracts more than 1000 attendees. G-FEST 2013 was the most successful convention to date, bringing in more than 2000 Japanese science fiction and fantasy film fans!
G-FEST is a family-oriented convention which caters to a wide variety of interests within the kaiju genre. G-FEST features presentations and Q & A sessions by actors and crew from the Japanese Godzilla films, fan presentations on topics of interest, contests and gaming, new and classic kaiju movies, the western world’s largest kaiju-oriented dealers room, and lots of fun and camaraderie.
The 2013 Convention
G-FEST XX was held from July 12th to July 14th, 2013 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare. The G-FEST double double feature film festival returned on July 11th for fans that arrived early.
Special guests at G-FEST XX were suit maker Shinichi Wakasa, suit actor and stuntman Tsutomu Kitagawa, independent filmmaker Shizuo Nakajima, actor Robert Scott Field, documentary director Frank H Woodward, and special effects artist Cleve Hall. Films that screened were 20 Million Miles to Earth, Gamera 3: Awakening of Iris, Gamera vs. Gyaos, The X From Outer Space, Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla, and Godzilla X Megaguirus.
