G-FEST XV featured more Kaiju Eiga then ever before! A special double, double-bill Film Fest played on Thursday, July 3rd to accommodate early arrivers. Friday, July 4th saw Godzilla vs. Biollante make its North Amercan theater debut. On Saturday, July 5th, Godzilla X Mechagodzilla screened for the first time at G-FEST.

Released in 1968, Matango is underrated, eerie and disturbing. Excellent performances and character development make this one of Ishiro Honda’s greatest films. Bleak, creepy, but at the same time beautiful, Matango is an amazing character study not to be missed!

Released in 1968, this was Toho’s ninth Godzilla film and is considered by most to be one of their best. Employing the talents of Honda, Tsuburaya, and Ifukube, Destroy All Monsters features eleven mighty kaiju, destruction in many of Earth’s major cities, and one of the most climactic final battles of the series.

Godzilla vs. Gigan

Godzilla vs. Gigan

Directed by Jun Fukuda with special effects by Teruyoshi Nakano, Godzilla vs. Gigan was released in 1972. Although on a limited budget with ample stock footage, it is still action packed, featuring one of Godzilla’s deadliest foes. Godzilla vs. Gigan would be Haruo Nakajima’s final portrayal of Godzilla.

A big screen adaptation of the legendary “Birth of Japan” story. Toho released Yamato Takeru in 1994 with direction by Takao Okawara, fresh off his box office hit, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II.

Godzilla vs. Biollante

Godzilla vs. Biollante

The second of the Heisei Godzilla series released in 1989, Godzilla vs. Biollante finally makes its North Amercan theater debut at G-FEST XV! On the big screen where it belongs, Godzilla vs. Biollante remains one of the stronger entries in the series. Special effects director, Koichi Kawakita brought renewed energy, innovation, and a level of realism beyond what had been seen before.

Godzilla X Mechagodzilla

Godzilla X Mechagodzilla

The fourth film in the Millenium Godzilla series brings a third incarnation of the mighty Mechagodzilla. Made as a direct sequel to the original 1954 film, Godzilla X Mechagodzilla is fast paced with modern day special effects, and a powerful score. Oh… and the return of Kumi Mizuno!
